EU Qualified Seal (QES) for signing in the EPREL database

EPREL (European Product Registry for Energy Labeling) is the EU’s platform for registering energy labeled products. In order to verify products in EPREL, an EU-qualified eSeal is required – a digital company stamp that confirms that the information is authentic, secure and legally valid.

What is eSegl EPREL?

EPREL (European Product Registry for Energy Labeling) is the EU’s database for energy-efficiency labeling of electronic products, such as refrigerators , dishwashers and ventilation units. All electrical products sold in the EU must be registered in the EPREL database.

This is how the delivery takes place:

1. Order online

Fill out the order form online here.

2. Sign digitally

An authorized signatory or authorized representative of the
company signs the order online.

3. Receive the eSeal

The eSeal is delivered to the registered recipient on a smart card. The PIN code is then sent digitally.

New EU requirements: NTR required in eSeglet from April 2025

As of 22 April 2025, the EU will only accept qualified eSeal that contains a National Registration Number (NTR) – for example, an organization number.

This means that:

 

  • Only eSeals with NTR is valid for new registrations in EPREL
  • eSeals with VAT, LEI or PSD will no longer be accepted

Frequently asked questions about EPREL & Qualified Seal (QES)

EPREL (European Product Registry for Energy Labeling) is the EU’s database for energy efficiency labeling of electrical products. Manufacturers and importers must register their products and report energy consumption in the EPREL database, according to EU requirements.

Electrical products covered by EU energy labeling rules such as refrigerators, lamps, dishwashers, washing machines and other energy-rated appliances must be registered.

EU rules ensure that products meet energy requirements through clear labeling and correct reporting in EPREL.

The product must meet EU energy efficiency requirements and correctly indicate energy consumption and performance according to applicable EU standards.

The energy labeling rules apply in all EU countries, as well as in EEA countries such as Norway, Iceland and Lichtenstein.

A Qualified Seal is your company’s digital stamp and identity, acting as an electronic signature for organizations.

The seal is issued in accordance with the EU eIDAS regulation and follows strict security requirements. It ensures that documents and information are authentic, have a clear origin and have not been tampered with. By using a Qualified Seal, the recipient can easily verify that the information comes from a legitimate organization. Only approved Qualified Trust Service Providers (QTSP), such as Commfides, have the right to issue a Qualified  Seal.

EU regulations require the use of a qualified seal (QSCD) when registering products in the EPREL database. This is to guarantee that the product information is correct, verified and legally binding.

Yes, as long as the information is correct and verified, a qualified eSeal can be used to report multiple products.

The cost is 7500 NOK / 650 EURO per year.

NTR stands for National Trade/Business Registration and refers to the company’s national registration number, e.g. organization number. This number is entered in the eSeal.

From April 22, 2025, the EU requires all new EPREL registrations to use qualified eSeals containing the NTR. This ensures that the information comes from a verified, legitimate organization.

Identifications based on VAT, LEI, PSD or other types will no longer be accepted for new registrations after April 22, 2025.

Yes. Commfide’s Qualified Seal are already adapted to the new requirements and contain correct NTR information in the certificate.

From April 22, 2027, previous verifications without NTR will be invalid, which means that the products must be re-registered in EPREL. The company must then obtain a new qualified eSeal with NTR in the certificate.

You can order an eSeal for your business by filling in our digital order form.
Once we have received and approved the order, the eSeal will be sent to the recipient in the order.

We process the order as soon as we receive the signed order form. Delivery usually takes place within 4 working days.

Only an authorized signatory or an authorized signatory in accordance with the Brønnøysund Register can sign the order for an EU qualified eSeal. The approval process for ordering and issuing eSegl is regulated in accordance with the eIDAS legislation.
