FAQ
Below you will find the most common questions we receive about the EPREL database and the use of EU-qualified eSeals.

Frequently Asked Questions About EPREL and Qualified eSeals (QSCD)
EPREL (European Product Registry for Energy Labeling) is the EU’s database for energy efficiency labeling of electrical products. Manufacturers and importers must register their products and report energy consumption in the EPREL database, in accordance with EU requirements.
Electrical products subject to the EU’s energy labeling regulations—such as refrigerators, lamps, dishwashers, washing machines, and other energy-rated appliances—must be registered.
EU regulations ensure that products meet energy requirements through clear labeling and accurate reporting in EPREL.
The product must comply with EU energy efficiency requirements and accurately state its energy consumption and performance in accordance with applicable EU standards.
The energy labeling regulations apply in all EU countries, as well as in EEA countries such as Norway, Iceland, and Liechtenstein.
A qualified eSeal is a company’s digital stamp and identity, serving as an electronic signature for organizations.
The seal is issued in accordance with the EU’s eIDAS Regulation and meets strict security requirements. It ensures that documents and information are authentic, have a clear origin, and have not been tampered with. By using a qualified eSeal, the recipient can easily verify that the information comes from a legitimate organization. Only approved providers, known as Qualified Trust Service Providers (QTSPs), such as Commfides, are authorized to issue eSeals.
EU regulations require the use of a qualified electronic seal (QSCD) when registering products in the EPREL database. This is to ensure that the product information is accurate, verified, and legally binding.
Yes, as long as the information is accurate and verified, a qualified eSeal can be used to report multiple products.
The cost is 825 EUR for 3 years.
You can register your products by creating an account on the EPREL website and following the instructions. Learn more on the EPREL website.
NTR stands for National Trade/Business Registration and refers to a company’s national registration number, such as its organization number. This number is entered into eSeglet.
Starting April 22, 2025, the EU requires that all new EPREL registrations use qualified eSeals containing NTR. This ensures that the information comes from a verified, legitimate organization.
Identifiers based on VAT, LEI, PSD, or other types will no longer be accepted for new registrations after April 22, 2025.
Yes. Commfide’s qualified eSeals are already compliant with the new requirements and include the correct NTR information in the certificate.
As of April 22, 2027, previous verifications without an NTR will be invalid, which means that the products must be re-registered in EPREL. At that time, the business must obtain a new qualified eSeal with an NTR in the certificate.
You can order an eSeal for your business by filling out our digital order form.
Once we have received and approved the order, the eSeal will be sent to the recipient specified in the order.
We process the order as soon as we receive the signed order form. Delivery usually takes place within 3 working days. Please contact our support for any questions regarding the delivery.
According to the Brønnøysund Register, only an authorized signatory or a person with power of attorney may sign the order for an EU-qualified eSeal. The approval process for ordering and issuing eSeal is regulated in accordance with the eIDAS legislation.
By using our certified eSeal and following EPREL’s registration process, you ensure that your products meet all applicable requirements.
